WHY USE BEESWAX IN HEALTH & BEAUTY PRODUCTS?   (back to top)

WHY USE BEESWAX CANDLES & MELTS?   (back to top)

Beeswax candles have a clean non-toxic burn. Melting beeswax produces negative ions that may relieve stress, boost energy and alertness, reduce dust mites & dander in the air, and help protect against airborne germs. Whether the beeswax is scented or not it smells FANTASTIC!

WHY IS MY BALM/BUTTER GRITTY?   (back to top)

My Sweet Honey Hive uses all natural ingredients with no preservatives in our products. We do our best to offer smooth, dreamy goodness in all our products. Because we offer our products at outdoor markets and craft shows, our products experience temperature variations. We use raw shea butter in several of our products, and it is very temperature sensitive. During hotter months, butters and balms can partially melt and cool down too slowly, creating the perfect conditions for that grainy, gritting feeling. However, it’s important to know that there’s nothing wrong with these gritty, grainy crystals — they’re a totally natural reaction. They’re just the natural fatty acids in butters that like to stick together, but when they get crystalized, that gritty texture can be downright annoying.

HOW DO I RETURN THE SMOOTH, DREAMY GOODNESS TO MY BALM/BUTTER?   (back to top)

Get rid of the gritty texture by reheating your balm/butter. You can use a microwave, just follow the simple instructions below depending on the container your product is in.

#1: Remove the lid from your product.

#2 Lip Balm Tubes: Place tube upright in the microwave. Microwave on high for 5 to 10 second intervals until your lip balm is “just” melted.

#2 Tin Containers: These containers can be gently heated in an oven on a low temperature. If using a microwave, remove the product from the container and put into a microwave safe container. DO NOT place tins in the microwave. Microwave on high for 10 to 30 second intervals until your product is “just” melted.

#2 Glass & Plastic Containers: Glass containers can be gently heated in an oven on a low temperature. If using a microwave, you can use the original container or remove the product from the container and put into a microwave safe container. Microwave on high for 10 to 30 second intervals until your product is “just” melted.

#3 Let stand in the microwave for 2 minutes before removing. Carefully remove from microwave (CAUTION, container may be HOT) and pour back into original container, if needed. Let cool completely before putting lid back on. It’s ok to put it in the fridge for a speedy cool down.

DO NOT OVERHEAT, this could burn you, melt your container, and/or ruin your product.

HOW DO I USE MY ECO-FRIENDLY BEESWAX WRAP?   (back to top)

BEFORE USE: Wipe both sides of the wrap with a damp cloth to remove any residual wax or resin before using.

USE: Eco-friendly beeswax wraps can be used in place of plastic wrap or wax paper and used as a fruit/vegetable and sandwich wrap. Warm in your hands to conform to jar, bowl, sandwich, etc.

HINT: Wraps aren’t as air-tight as plastic wrap. You can reinforce the “cling” by using with a rubber band.

CLEAN: Wash in cool water with a mild soap and air dry. Don’t let wrap soak as this will shorten the life of the wrap. Fold and store in a cool, dark place.

DO NOT machine wash or wash in the dishwasher. DO NOT microwave.

Depending on use, wraps will last from 6 to 12 months. Can be composted.

HOW DO I GET THE MOST OUT OF MY BEESWAX CANDLE TIN?   (back to top)

Bees “transform the light” from the sun into wax and when people burn candles made from beeswax, they “free the light again from the wax and the bee”.                      ~ Queen of the Sun: What are the Bees Telling Us?

Beeswax candles are environmentally friendly, safe, and non-toxic. They burn 2-5 times longer than other candles and have very little drip. They emit a naturally bright light in the same light spectrum as the sun. A natural ionizer, they are the only candles that emit negative ions to purify, cleanse, improve air quality, and invigorate the body. Those with environmental allergies, sensitivities, and asthma benefit from them being hypoallergenic.

To get the most out of your beeswax candle:

        • Before lighting, trim the wick to 1/4 inch.
        • Burn only on a temperature safe surface.
        • Do not burn for more than 1 hour at one use.
        • Keep out of drafts.
        • After use, gently press ridge of un-melted wax to center. Be careful not to touch hot wax.
        • Adjust the wick so it remains in the center

WARNING: Burn within sight. Keep away from things that catch fire. Keep away from children and pets.

WHY CAN’T I REMOVE THE BEESWAX FROM MY CERAMIC WAX MELTER?   (back to top)

Beeswax is naturally soft when warm. Chilling helps to remove beeswax from containers. Once chilled, the beeswax will pop right out.
